Privacy Policy

Overview

StockWatch is a tool for tracking SEC Form 4 insider trading filings and congressional stock trades. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we store it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide the service:

• Email address — used for account creation, authentication, and account recovery.
• Password — stored as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider. We never store or have access to your plaintext password.
• Watchlist tickers — the stock tickers you choose to watch.
• Followed persons — the insiders and politicians you choose to follow.
• Account metadata — account creation date and last sign-in time.

We do not collect analytics, browsing behavior, IP addresses for tracking, or any data beyond what is listed above.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the basis of your consent (account creation) and legitimate interest (providing the service you signed up for). You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data (email, watchlist items, follows) is permanently deleted immediately. We do not retain backups of deleted user data.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate StockWatch:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting. Stores your email, hashed password, watchlist, and follows. Subject to the Supabase Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare — web hosting and CDN. May process request metadata (IP addresses) for security and performance. Subject to the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

We also fetch public market data from the following sources. No user personally identifiable information (PII) is sent to any of these services:

• SEC EDGAR — public insider trading filings
• Finnhub — stock price data
• Yahoo Finance — stock price data
• Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) — congressional trade data
• CapitolTrades — congressional trade data

Cookies

StockWatch uses cookies solely for authentication session management. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party tracking cookies. The authentication cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function and are managed by Supabase Auth.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — you can view all data associated with your account on the Account Settings page.
• Export — you can export all your data in machine-readable JSON format from the Account Settings page.
• Deletion — you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Account Settings page.
• Rectification — if any data is inaccurate, you can update it or contact us.
